Business Education Teacher Sarah Wamsley will be piloting a new program called Virtual Enterprise to freshmen and sophomores for the 2019-2020 school year. Mrs Wamsley encourages freshmen and sophomores to sign up as seats are filling for W4 VE-Class. In this class students will have the opportunity to become student leaders by designing and running a virtual business in which they come up with a business plan, develop a product, develop a website, and experience customer interaction while simulating the sale of their product within a virtual community of other high school students across the United States. The students simulate an economy and understand the basis of running a business, entrepreneurship, economy, stock market, as well as, many other business processes.
Upshur County was lucky to be selected as one of the piloting schools for this amazing curriculum and new program to inspire future entrepreneurs in the state of West Virginia. Students will be able to apply the skills that they learn to create their own business and be successful in all of their endeavors. Mrs. Wamsley spent a week this summer in New York training with Virtual Enterprise and she has attended an additional training in Charleston and will continue to attend monthly trainings to ensure the success of her students in her classroom in the VE program. Mrs. Wamsley is looking forward to the doors and opportunities this will open for the students of Upshur County. If you know an interested freshman or sophomore please feel free to contact Mrs Wamsley at Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
