Ms. Hicks 8th graders created the circular Rangolis (row of colors) designs in to acknowledge the Indian celebration of Diwali. They are made of cloth and involve a batik process using wax and ink. Diwali is 'the festival of lights' and is the biggest Hindu celebration. It occurs early November. It signifies light over darkness and good over bad. Rangolis are typically created to decorate the houses during the festival.
