Rock Cave Elementary Students Learn about Fire Safety

Monday, October 5th was the first day of Fire Safety Week. Rock Cave Elementary staff collaborated with Banks District Fire Hall, WV Forestry and the American Red Cross to educate our students on staying safe in various circumstances. Members of the VFD read a book to our students
and spoke about how to respond in an emergency. We were fortunate enough to have
the HealthNet helicopter land at our school also. Students spoke with the pilots
and walked through the helicopter. This was a very exciting part of our morning!
Thanks to the efforts of David Taylor our morning was fun, educational and
memorable. A grant is in the works to provide families with smoke detectors in
bedrooms, which will be installed by volunteers.
