WV Agriculture Education Science Lab at Washington District Elementary
Weyerhaeuser Grant Allows Washington District Students to Experience WV Agriculture Education Science Lab
Washington District Elementary School students recently received unique, hands-on science experiments thanks to the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund Grant. With the Weyerhaeuser grant, the school was able to bring the West Virginia Farm Bureau’s Mobil Agriculture Education Science Lab to the school. Although the grant was secured last school year, due to a waiting list, the date for the Agriculture Lab was in early December, 2016.
Each day during the week-long visit, students from Pre-K through 5th grade learned about the importance of agriculture in everyday living. They did experiments, learned to read nutrition labels, and discovered what food choices promote a healthy lifestyle. All curriculum is aligned with the state standards.
