The RCES students met for their first House Meeting last week. There are 3 Houses; Savant (pronounced sevah; house of knowledge and leadership), Bravoure (pronounced brehver, representing valor and courage) and Digne (pronounced deen, house of merit and worth).
All students were sorted into houses in a ceremony held earlier this year. Students earn points for acts of kindness, attendance, manners and respect. Within these houses, they identify activities/projects to develop throughout the year. The House of Savant had Gene Thorne from Trout Unlimited speak about their organization (conservation and management of streams). They will have Trout in the Classroom again this year as one of their projects. The House Of Bravoure is focusing on health and fitness and are working to contribute to the Billion Mile Race by counting their steps. The House of Digne's first project was making posters for the BUHS soccer seniors. All houses will be supporting a charity that students will decide on as the year progresses.
