Upshur County Schools are dedicated to continuing to educate our students, while keeping them as safe as possible. The district works closely with our local and state health officials and comply with guidelines set forth by the West Virginia Department of Education, Governor Jim Justice, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Upshur-Buckhannon Health Department .

School Health Measures

Upshur County COVID-19 2022-2023 Protocols and Information

  • Air filters will be utilized in every classroom in Upshur County Schools.

  • Additional sanitization in every school.

  • COVID-19 vaccinations are available for all school aged children in the K-12 setting and are recommended as a measure to protect against the COVID-19 virus.

  • Nurses are available in the schools, when available, to assist with illnesses and provide schoolwide health information.

  • Parents are encouraged to monitor the symptoms of children and keep home students who may be exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Students and staff are still permitted to wear a mask for the purposes of preventing COVID-19.

  • Upshur County Schools continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and collaborate with local health officials.

  • Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 should remain home for 5 days.
