Press Release Upshur County Schools December 5, 2020 According to the WVDHHR state education map released at 5:00 pm on December 5, 2020, Upshur County is now designated "Orange." Orange status indicates heightened community transmission. This will not significantly impact our schools or our current fully remote delivery model for teaching and learning. We have been and will continue to be in full remote instruction through January 4, 2021. Employees will be in their respective buildings and buses will continue to run in order to provide "essential support services" for our students. Buses will run the regular runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to pick up Fred Eberle Technical students and students who receive special education services and support. Additionally, five-day food boxes will be served at each school on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 11:00-1:00 curbside. The boxes will also be available at the Warehouse (by Tennerton Elementary School) from 9:00-3:00 on Wednesday. We will continue to follow our protocol, which have been put into place throughout the pandemic, as we practice social distancing and wear face coverings and perform rigorous cleaning processes. As we continue to work closely with our local Upshur Buckhannon Health Department, our priority remains the safety of our students, employees, families, and the community at large. We appreciate the patience and continued support of all our families and community partners and are so anxious to have our students back in school.

Effective immediately, all Upshur County schools will make a complete shift to remote learning until January 4, 2021. This transition is necessary for a variety of reasons to include: the recent spike in infections in Upshur County and the difficulty with staffing school buildings due to a large number of staff who have been quarantined or who are home for related reasons.Thank you again for your patience as we work to keep our students, staff, and community safe. We are grateful for our community and your continued support and look forward to the time when our students can return safely to the classroom.
