I want to take a moment to recognize our teachers for the incredible work you do every day to lift up the students of our county. You believe in each child’s individual greatness and work tirelessly to help them reach it, no matter the challenges they may face.
Even when economic barriers exist, you step in with care, high expectations, and unwavering commitment. Because of you, students' potential is recognized, lifting them into entrepreneurship, college, enlistment, and beyond.
Thank you for being champions for our kids and for strengthening our entire community through your work. 💙🍎
💙
To our teachers—thank you for being lifelong learners for our kids.
You don’t just teach—you keep growing so our community’s children get your very best. I’m especially proud that nearly 90% of our teachers have taken on the intensive LETRS training. That kind of commitment says so much about your heart for students.
Our schools are stronger because of you. 🍎👏
A sincere thank you to our parents and families for your encouragement and support. Your partnership plays an important role in helping our students grow and succeed.
Great job, students—keep shining and leading with kindness! 👏💙

When selecting instructional technology vendors, Upshur County Schools conducts thorough due diligence to review data privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance with applicable state and federal student data protection laws. Based on that review, and consistent with our ongoing monitoring practices, we have seen no evidence that would alter our initial data security and privacy assessments.
Both companies have informed the district that the claims outlined in the lawsuit are without merit and that they intend to defend them accordingly. We will continue to closely monitor developments and maintain direct communication with our vendors regarding data protection obligations.
Protecting student data and privacy remains a top priority for Upshur County Schools. We will continue to actively oversee vendor compliance and take appropriate action if any company is found to have violated the terms of its agreements or applicable laws. Should such a situation arise, the district will advocate for our students every step of the way.
Take your time, stay focused, and remember to do your best—you’ve been preparing for this. We’re proud of the hard work you’ve put in all year and are cheering you on every step of the way! 💙🤍💙🤍

👀 Take a look! - Mr. Tim Derico appointed as new Superintendent of Upshur County Schools starting July 1st

On March 18–19, BUHS juniors participated in a Mastery Prep SAT Bootcamp, gaining valuable strategies for both the Reading/Writing and Math sections of the SAT. Students worked through a test prep workbook alongside a certified SAT prep trainer, learning tips, techniques, and confidence-building approaches to help them succeed on test day.
This marks the second year BUHS has partnered with Mastery Prep. Feedback from last year’s juniors showed the bootcamp provided helpful tools that supported their SAT performance. We’re hopeful this year’s students will see the same success!
👏 Great work to our juniors for putting in the effort and preparing for what’s next!

Snow Day Waiver Approved | 🗓️ No Calendar Changes
Upshur County Schools has received approval from the WVDE State Superintendent for our snow day waiver request. As a result, the district calendar remains the same, no makeup days are required at this time.
We’ll continue to monitor weather conditions. If future inclement weather impacts the calendar, we will update families and staff immediately through our website, social media, and direct notifications.
Thank you for your patience and support.
