
At 10:00am on February 12th, Upshur County’s status on the WVDHHR Alert System changed to the Orange level. Under the Orange level, facial coverings are required in schools and on school buses. The change is effective Monday, February 14th.


At 10:00am on February 9th, Upshur County’s status on the WVDHHR Alert System changed to the Gold level. Under the Gold level, there is no mask mandate in schools, however, masks are required on school buses. The change is effective February 10th.


Upshur County Schools will dismiss at 12:30pm today, January 28th, due to inclement weather.

B-UMS and B-UHS students who ride Bus 35 will be transported by Bus 31 on the afternoon of December 13th. Upshur County Schools are dedicated to continuing to educate our students, while keeping them as safe as possible. As Upshur County’s status on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (WVDHHR) County Alert System Map changes, face covering requirements within our schools also change. When the map indicates a level of Red or Orange, face coverings are required within Upshur County Schools. Under the Gold, Yellow, or Green levels, face coverings are not required.
Regardless of the County Alert System color status, face coverings are required on school buses, as this is considered public transit by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), whose order requiring facial coverings is still in place. We continue to monitor the WVDHHR County Alert System Map daily and encourage our families to do so as well.
