On December 30th, Governor Jim Justice announced that all students will participate in remote learning until January 15, 2021. Beginning January 19, 2021, students in grades Pre-K-8th will return to in-person instruction regardless of the color on the WVDHHR map. B-U High School students will return to in-person instruction on January 19th unless Upshur County is identified as red on the WVDHHR map. If your child is participating in WV Virtual School or full-time remote instruction, nothing will change for the next few weeks. Upshur County families who wish to change their child’s instructional delivery model should contact the student’s home school prior to Friday, January 15th, which is the final day of first semester. Food Distribution will continue January 4th-15th, and families will be notified of delivery dates and times. Press Release Upshur County Schools December 5, 2020 According to the WVDHHR state education map released at 5:00 pm on December 5, 2020, Upshur County is now designated "Orange." Orange status indicates heightened community transmission. This will not significantly impact our schools or our current fully remote delivery model for teaching and learning. We have been and will continue to be in full remote instruction through January 4, 2021. Employees will be in their respective buildings and buses will continue to run in order to provide "essential support services" for our students. Buses will run the regular runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to pick up Fred Eberle Technical students and students who receive special education services and support. Additionally, five-day food boxes will be served at each school on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 11:00-1:00 curbside. The boxes will also be available at the Warehouse (by Tennerton Elementary School) from 9:00-3:00 on Wednesday. We will continue to follow our protocol, which have been put into place throughout the pandemic, as we practice social distancing and wear face coverings and perform rigorous cleaning processes. As we continue to work closely with our local Upshur Buckhannon Health Department, our priority remains the safety of our students, employees, families, and the community at large. We appreciate the patience and continued support of all our families and community partners and are so anxious to have our students back in school.

We are grateful for our community and your continued support and look forward to the time when our students can return safely to the classroom. Please see the full Press Release under News on upshurschools.com.
